MOODS OF THE MOON
Approximately
every 2.7 years there is a blue moon - that is the phenomonon
where there are two full moons that appear in the same
month. Sometimes that extra, rare moon appears to have
a bluish glow, thereby gaining the name in song, poetry,
and myth of being a "blue moon."
The last blue moon was in June 2007. There will be two blue moons in 2018.
Part
of the collection, Namaste: The Moon - Moods of the
Moon: 33 Peace Moons series reflects the universality
of this singular celestial body's presence and power
to awe and inspire all living beings who share our world.
The
original artwork in this series began as a digital photograph
of a waxing quarter moon that was taken on a night of
major personal transition in the artist's life. This
base photograph was sliced and collaged and became the
first "mood" of the moon, reflecting
the idea that the same moon
she was seeing was being shared not only with loved
ones near and far, but with all people, everywhere. Presenting a
magical, silvery glow upon a black sky, this first artwork
was named "Peace Moon."
The
inspiration for presenting 33 moons (32 moon in 2.7
years plus the extra blue moon) flowed spontaneously
as the artist experimented with the original art work in
a variety of colorful expressions. Soon the consistant theme of universal presence,
blended with her own deep desire for both inner and
world peace, emerged as a visually tangible expression
of the idea that in order to seek lasting win-win solutions,
we need to discover and celebrate the things we have
in common with those whom we find ourselves to be in
conflict.
And
so the moon is presented here in 33 moods, where in
33 random languages from around the world it is the
